How we work
Four stages, from first visit to a signed-off handover.
A build is a big thing to trust someone with. Here’s exactly how a project runs with JRB Builds — who does what at each stage, and what you get back — so there are no unknowns before you pick up the phone.
01
Consultation & honest advice
James comes out, listens to what you want to achieve and gives genuinely useful, practical advice on what the project needs — including help and guidance on any parts you plan to take on yourselves. No pressure, no charge for the conversation.
What you get at this stage
A no-charge visit, honest and practical advice, and — if you’re taking on parts yourself — guidance on how to do them.
02
Design, structural & building control
We coordinate with your architect and structural engineer where needed, and liaise with Uttlesford building control ourselves — so the design that’s agreed can actually be built, and the paperwork is handled for you.
What you get at this stage
The structural design and building-control side coordinated for you, so the plan that’s agreed can actually be built.
03
The build — clean, tidy, coordinated
James and the team — including Rob and Paul — carry the work through, bringing in Al Platten Electrics and Warmtouch to keep first and second fixes on schedule. The site is kept clean, and neighbours are considered with parking and deliveries.
What you get at this stage
A clean, coordinated site with every trade sequenced, neighbours considered, and the work carried out to a high standard.
04
Sign-off & handover
Structural work is signed off by building control, waste is removed, and the project is finished to a high standard — “on time, on budget, and fully signed off,” as our reviews put it. Many customers book us straight back for the next stage.
What you get at this stage
Structural work signed off by building control, waste cleared, and an open door to book us back for the next stage.

The stage most people never see — the groundwork and prep that decide the finish
